Introduction

The Basketball Academy is a unique concept for high school basketball athletes in the United States.  The Academy is committed to the personal growth and individual success for student athletes.  We want prep student athletes to keep in perspective their opportunities for a cost free college education, and the limitless opportunities of a lifetime.

Student/athletes entering their senior year are provided an intensive residential event that will be certified by the NCAA.  Attendance is by nomination of high school/college coaches and then selection.

  • The NCAA July observation dates for 2008 are July 6-15 and July 23-31.  These are the
only days D-I coaches can be in attendance.

Program

The curriculum, The Winning Edge  and Winner's Unlimited  will be provided by Dr. Andrew Jacobs.  In 1980, Dr. Jacobs piloted one of the first sport psychology training programs at San Diego State University.

Since 1992 Dr. Jacobs has hosted a radio show in KC that discusses a variety of topics from self improvement, communication skills, and competitive success.  He has also worked with U.S. Olympic teams, professional basketball teams, and numerous college athletes and D-I teams.

The Academy has become one of the top three, no fee (invitation only) basketball camps in the country.  This event is noted for the intense camaraderie that our campers develop for each other and staff members!!  We are serious about you and your future.  Plan to be your best on and off the court.

Location

The camp will be held at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.  The campus is only twenty-five minutes from KCI airport (the NCAA allows us to pick you up and drop off for return flight).  Everyone (camp staff included) will be housed in air-conditioned dorms, cafeterias, classrooms and gymnasiums.  All attendees are supervised by Academy staff at all times.

Camp will begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5th and conclude at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 8th.  Please plan to arrive on the morning of the 5th.  If you come in early we can assist you with hotel information.  Do not plan to leave before conclusion of camp!
